If you're a homeowner in Calaveras County, as we are, you may be eligible for a loan that can help you reduce your energy costs. The program is funded by a $16.5 million grant from the California Energy Commission, which started as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Calaveras County homeowners can apply for a 3% fixed-rate loan for such "green" improvements as caulking and sealing, insulation, new windows, new water heaters, new heating and air conditioning systems, new roofing, and full solar electrical systems.
These loans can be paid off over a 15 year time period. In addition, you may be able to receive grants of up to 15% of the project cost, up to $1,250.00.
Sounds like an excellent opportunity to take advantage of helping the environment and reducing your energy costs at the same time! For more information go to the CRHMFA Homebuyer's Fund website at www.chfloan.org.
