A recent study done by the National Association of Home Builders, suggests that new homes being built will decrease in size by about 10% in the next few years, with consumers opting for a "great room", which would include the living room, kitchen, and dining area all in one big space rather than 3 separate rooms. That 10% downsizing would make the average home about 2100 square feet. Which is still a pretty good size. But, do you think you would be able to go any smaller and still be comfortable? Take a look at this house and you might change your mind...
While it probably isn't practical for everyone, especially if you have kids, it is kinda fun to see how living in a small space could actually work. Some of these spaces are as small as 89 square feet, but have all the bells and whistles of a normal size house. Built for energy efficiency, these tiny houses use significantly less of, well, everything! Built to International Building Code requirements by the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, the plan includes a loft, home office, kitchen, bathroom, living room, and deck — tightly placed in less than 500 square feet! Even we (Uniquity Builders) have a relatively tiny house under our belt, at right around 800 square feet!
So, whether you prefer your home big, small or somewhere in between, you can always call us to fix it up for you! (Nice segue, huh?)
