For a lot of people who live in Calaveras County or in other rural areas, their mailbox usually isn't right outside their front door. Usually, it's at the end of their driveway, which can be as far as quarter to a half mile away. Sure it's good exercise, but who wants to walk all that way just to see if the mail has arrived? There may be a way to get around this!
If you head over to Kickstarter.com, you'll find what looks like an ordinary mailbox. What it really is is a mailbox that can "talk" to you!
Mr. Postman is a WiFi enabled mailbox that lets you know when your mail has arrived. You can also remotely lock your mailbox using your smart phone. Mr. Postman has the ability to learn your postman's schedule and allows you to track packages so you know when an important order arrives.
You also have the ability to share a virtual "key" with neighbors or a family member so they can pick your mail up when you are away.
All of these features, plus many more, are controlled using the Mr. Postman app. Currently, the app is only available for iPhone, but an Android app is in the near future as long as the funds come through.
Mr. Postman's pledge for backers on Kickstarter is almost over. February 1st is the deadline set to reach their goal of $50,000. If this is something you would use at your home, then head over to Kickstarter.com and pledge your support.
